Next Irish Whiskey Society Of America Committee Meeting
The IWSA founding committee will be holding it's next meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 7-9 p.m., in the snug at The Whiskey Priest in Boston. We'll be divvying up committee roles, setting a 2011 calendar and sampling from the pub's extensive whiskey menu. Message me with questions and let me know if you can make it. Lots of excitement and plans in the works for 2011. Join in now and help build America's first group dedicated to the appreciation of one of the fastest-growing spirits in the world today.

Wish I could be there. Living in a state with weird liquor laws (PA), I love being able to share information about Irish Whiskey so that I can look for the variety when I travel.

I have commented a few other times in regards to the John L whisky...(which I coincidentally was drinking earlier this afternoon) but I was wondering if any of you had thought about making a "how to" guide for irish whisky eggnog (seeing as it is the holiday season) most eggnogs here (south east us) are fairly bland or just plain out nasty (bad bourbon and brandy mixtures) I have found that home made irish whisky egg nog is the way to go ( a few years ago) and plan on making it from scratch again this coming holiday...while I realize this is a whisky blog and most of us believe in drinkin' straight whisky...a "tutorial" wouldn't hurt to much as a creamy alternative to our favorite brand...
Just a though,
Frogi

I have a really good recipe, courtesy of Chef Kelly Shay from McCarthy's Restaurant in Bethlehem, PA. Adjust proportions as needed. basic whiskey's go in this, not the good stuff. Plenty of other flavors here.
Ingredients:
12 eggs
1 & 1/2 cups sugar
1 quart whole milk
1 quart heavy cream
2 cups whiskey
1 cup rum
Method:
Separate eggs. Whip whites with 1/2 cup sugar to stiff peak. Mix 1 cup of sugar with yolks; whip until pale yellow (ribbon stage). Fold together egg mixtures. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks. Add milk and liquors.

Jim: Best bet is to order it via the Celtic Whiskey Shop (www.celticwhiskeyshop.com) in Dublin. Order a case by yourself or with others to reduce your cost. God knows it won't go to waste. Plan B is check online for stock at an LCBO in Ontario (http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo-ear/lcbo/product/inventory/searchResults.do?language=EN&itemNumber=699827) if you or anyone you know can get to one and bring it home. Don't know of US outlets though there may be the odd one about. Sláinte, Rich
